Fighting Game Patches Need To Come Out Faster
528 VIEWS
EVO is hanging in the distance, looming ever closer. Fighting game fans prepare for the arrival, either practicing their infinites and broken tech, or finding ways of defending against the unbalance. What is Capcom doing about the numerous issues that plague each of their titles?
Nothing.
That might not be all of Capcom's, or any other companies' fault. Sure, they have to make the patch, but the system heads like Sony and Microsoft need to approve the updates. It takes too much processing time and too much money to get accepted.
Why not cut the fighting game developers some slack? These games live and die on balance. Without some unity, Street Fighter doesn't last but a few weeks of abusing broken pieces.
Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 stands as a perfect example. It's more balanced than the 2nd game, but still isn't level enough. Look at the rain of infinites that most characters have now!
What is this, MUGEN? Actually, MUGEN has an excuse, since it's just a mash of random characters with no thoughts about making them even. That's the fun of playing God Akuma beating up on Homer Simpson.
But UMVC3 is an actual product, sold as some great fighting game experience. Hard to enjoy a title when you everyone plans to devolve into the same attacks all day. No attempt, at the time of this writing, has been made to correct these gigantic problems.
You could use the major players like Mike Ross to scour your games for issues, Capcom. Maximilian did this for Street Fighter X Tekken. I'm sure everyone in the community would assist in helping balance any game.
Every fighting game needs faster patches. Help keep these games alive. We will help every step of the way.
