Opinion: Sega Is The Best Company Of This Gen
540 VIEWS
It's easy to detest most game companies in this generation. Many ignore the pleas of the consumers, opting to unfairly cut content and call gamers unfitting words like "entitled" and such. Even the employees call out the places they work for.
One group sits positively in my mind. Beyond not releasing some games earlier, and a few other very small issues, Sega is my favorite company. Here's why.
Fight Well Fighter
This year marks the return of one of the deepest fighting games ever, created by Sega's AM2 division. Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown is the best fighting game of this generation, tailed only by it's vanilla version and few others. As my review states, the technical title is a reminder of why fighting games are so enjoyable.
In A Domain Of Its Own
Binary Domain is a surprisingly well crafted TPS. It avoids being a natural DudeBro shooter by not taking itself seriously, with refreshing characters and a smooth shooting system. Plus, how could you not like Big Bo?
Shenmue, But Not Really
Sega's Yakuza series is Shenmue's older, more mature brother. A beat'em up that's just as enjoyable to watch as it is to play, Kiryu's adventure through Japan's seedy streets need to be experienced by all. How many games let you use someone's head as a soccer ball? Not enough, I say.
Anarchy Reigns
Sure, it isn't coming out until next year for us American folks, but a brawler like this is worth the wait. Madworld characters get to throw signposts through each other's heads and use the environments to their advantage. If you don't want to wait, importing is a legitimate option, since the game is already done in English.
Phantasy Star 2 Online
Right now, I'm piling through the Japanese version of the game, but next year will offer a fully translated version for the US and EU regions. Good thing, too, since this Free-2-Play game is actually quite fun. Online tops even its predecessor, a feat thought impossible.
